The Cornerstone Center
A Christian Meditation Community

Director’s Note: 2014-15 Programs
Love, we know from the teaching of Father John, is the fruit of meditation. If we want to discern our progress, our growth in meditation, we are able to see it in our developing capacity to give and receive love, and to be able to see with our own eyes that love is the central reality of our lives. There is no greater gift, no greater power; and it is the source of all meaning in our life.” (Aspects of Love 1, by Laurence Freeman).

The summer heat is slowly (very slowly) moving away and it is time to look ahead at the remaining months for 2014 and the New Year. Thanks to many who helped us move, pack, unpack, and settle in our new location at The Casa. On the tails of the Spiritual Companions, who we hope will continue to be present here at the Casita, the spirit of this entire Community continues to inspire and encourage.

On Mondays, Oct. 20 - Nov. 24, 6:30 - 8 p.m. we will host the Casita Series,“The Contemplative Heart: Conversion, Community, Compassion.” This series will use some books you are probably already familiar with: The Contemplative Heart, by James Finley; A Community of Love, by John Main and The Joy of the Gospel, by Pope Francis. Donation only.

In December and Advent preparation, we encourage participation in Melanie Grosetaʼs sessions on Lectio Divina on Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8p.m., Dec. 2, 9, 16 and 23. (Register online at

We have the pleasure of Elizabeth Ursic returning in the new year. She will lead us into The Desert Fathers and Mothers, Saturday, Feb. 21, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., a good way to start out by walking in the footsteps of those heroes of holy intensity!

Adriana will do a day on March 7, “Christ, Beauty and the Celtic Spirit: John OʼDonohue and Laurence Freeman.” “May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder.” John OʼD. What a great way to prepare our Lenten walk!

Following Easter we will host a weekend retreat, April 24 - 26, with a beautiful teacher and gracious guide, The Rev. Glenda Meakin, who has been teaching contemplative meditation for the World Community for Christian Meditation for some 25 years. Her topic, “In the Light of the Resurrection: Commitment.”

Other offerings are in the works on Children and Meditation for Parents and Teachers, More Mystics for Today, and Living our Faith for Others.
